Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are still reportedly some way apart in their valuations of Shinji Kagawa, as the former attempt to secure a summer deal for his services.

Kagawa has one year left on his current contract with Dortmund, but has already informed the Bundesliga champions that he does not want to extend his stay beyond the terms of his current deal.

According to talkSPORT, the Japanese forward has already held talks with Sir Alex Ferguson, but Dortmund continue to play hard ball over Kagawa's transfer fee.

Dortmund are reportedly after at least double the initial £7 million valuation that had been suggested, and United may now struggle to bring the 23-year-old to Old Trafford.

Kagawa scored 13 goals in the league last season as Dortmund defended the German title, while he also played a key part in securing an historic double success.

United, meanwhile, will reportedly complete their first signing of the summer next week, with Crewe teenager Nick Powell set to move to Old Trafford after the League Two playoff final.
