Stoke striker Mamady Sidibe has been offered a new 12-month contract despite not having played a first-team match for two years.

The 32-year-old has struggled with his fitness after dislocating his knee, injuring a cruciate knee ligament and twice snapping an Achilles tendon. But having already undergone eight months of rehabilitation he is looking forward to starting pre-season training after admitting without a new contract he would probably have quit the game.

"I have just talked to the club and they have offered me another year to get me fit again," the former Mali international told The Sentinel.
