Liverpool's on-loan midfielder Joe Cole wants another chance to make a success of his Anfield career after impressing for Lille in France.

The former-Chelsea man endured a difficult first season at Liverpool and was loaned out to Ligue 1 side Lille at the beginning of this season.

The temporary switch worked wonders for Cole, who scored nine goals in 42 outings, and the England international now wants to replicate his fine form back in the Premier League.

And with the departure of Kenny Dalglish, Cole believes he has the opportunity to shine in a Liverpool shirt next season.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Cole said: "Kenny was a good guy - he didn't lie to me. I wasn't in his plans.

"Whereas it was quite clear before Kenny got the sack that I wouldn't be going back there, who knows what will happen now?"

The skilful midfielder moved to Anfield on a free transfer in 2010, but was sent off on his Premier League debut and found it difficult to settle. But, after helping Lille to finish third in Ligue 1, Cole is excited about returning to Merseyside.

"I would love the chance - if they wanted to - to put it right," said Cole. "I don't want that on my career."

But uncertainty continues to surround Liverpool, with no manager in place for next season, and Cole may have to wait before finding out whether he will be granted his Anfield wish.
