Steve Cotterill feels he should have been given the chance to prove himself as Nottingham Forest manager under the club's new Kuwaiti owners.

The Al-Hasawi family assumed control of the npower Championship club on Tuesday - and just 48 hours later they sacked Cotterill, who had been in charge for nine months.

In a statement via the League Managers' Association, the 47-year-old said: "I am deeply disappointed that I will no longer have the opportunity to manage Nottingham Forest Football Club and lead the team into this new era."
