Manchester United have set their summer transfer sights on Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin, according to reports.

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for Brazilian sensation Lucas Moura, with speculation as recent as yesterday suggesting that a £30 million offer had been rejected for the player by Sao Paulo.

Goal.com claims that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has become frustrated with the prolonged negotiations however, and has instead turned his attentions away from the 19-year-old and towards the Spanish capital.

Sahin joined Los Blancos from Borussia Dortmund last summer, but has found opportunities hard to come by under Jose Mourinho, making just 10 appearances last season.

And, with Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Luka Modric expected to move to the Santiago Bernabeu at some stage in the summer transfer window, the door could be well and truly opened for Sahin to leave.

United would need to pay in the region of £20 million to bring the Turkish international to Old Trafford, according to the report, and he’d join up with former Dortmund teammate Shinji Kagawa if a deal can be done.
