United and Liverpool in pre-season draws

Manchester United and Liverpool draw pre-season games in Toronto and Cape Town

Brendan Rodgers' first game in charge of the Reds resulted in a 1-1 draw with Major League Soccer side Toronto.

The MLS side took the lead in the 58th-minute through Quincy Amarikwa but Liverpool drew level 10 minutes later through 18-year-old Adam Morgan. Raheem Sterling was impressive throughout, and his mazy run set up Morgan for the eqauliser, ensuring that the match finished all-square in Canada.

Rodgers, who fielded an unfamiliar looking team for his side’s first pre-season fixture, named a mixture of youth and experience for Liverpool's opening pre-season match. At half-time the former-Swansea made made wholesale changes. In total 23 Liverpool players got a run-out. Watch Morgan's goal below.


 

Manchester United escaped Cape Town with a draw after a last-minute Bebe goals spared their blushes in their second pre-season match.

The Red Devils failed to exert any significant pressure until the much-maligned Bebe fashioned a response to Alcardo van Graan's smartly-taken goal four minutes from time.

New-boy Nick Powell was given 25 minutes to impress in central midfield, as was Shinji Kagawa – who hit the post with a header. Watch the highlights below.
