When Wolves went down with a wimper last season, a number of Premier League clubs would have kept a keen eye on developments at Molinuex in the hope of finding a summer transfer bargain.
This, however, has not been the case with Wolves admirably managing to hold onto a number of their most prized assets so far, due in the main to the exorbitant valuations the club have placed on their players.
Sunderland have their eye on Steven Fletcher and have had a bid in the region of £14 million knocked back - which raises the question as to how highly Wolves value the Scottish striker.
Fletcher is a Premier League quality striker - there is no debate about that - but has the former Burnley man has seemingly become the most over-priced player currently on the market.
With this in mind, GMF highlights some other inflated transfer fees to have been paid by clubs in the Premier League...
Fernando Torres
Liverpool to Chelsea - £50m
Torres has failed to live up to expectation at Stamford Bridge since making his record-breaking move.
Andy Carroll
Newcastle to Liverpool - £35m
Carroll became the most expensive British player in history when he joined Liverpool, but the Reds have made the striker available for transfer
Dimitar Berbatov
Tottenham to Manchester United - £30.75m
Berbatov has slipped well down the pecking order at Old Trafford despite being the club's record signing.
Joleon Lescott
Everton to Manchester City - £24m
Lescott impressed during City's title winning season, but the club paid well over the odds to sign the defender from Everton.
Stewart Downing
Aston Villa to Liverpool - £20m
The significant fee that Liverpool paid to sign Downing surprised many, and the winger has done little to suggest he was worth the investment.
