England boss Roy Hodgson handed debuts to Birmingham goalkeeper Jack Butland and Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley for the friendly international with Italy in Berne.

By playing, Butland becomes England's youngest-ever stopper at 19 years and 158 days, beating the 124-year record of Billy Moon by 64 days.

Cleverley, who was 23 on Sunday, partners skipper Frank Lampard and Michael Carrick in the centre of the midfield.
