Striker Steven Fletcher has admitted his relief at finally securing his move to Sunderland.

The 25-year-old Scotland international made his debut for the club in last night's 2-0 Capital One Cup victory over Morecambe after Wolves finally agreed to sell him to the Black Cats following a summer-long pursuit.

"It took its time. Three or four bids were rejected and I was sitting there thinking it was never going to happen," he said. "I think I've had it too easy in the past. Up until now, it's just kind of happened and it's me who has been called and told 'You've been sold'."
