David Beckham was doing what his did best for LA Galaxy at the weekend, scoring a classy free-kick in a 2-0 win over Vancouver Whitecaps.
The former Real Madrid, AC Milan and Manchester United midfielder did not hog all the headlines, however, as his Brazilian team-mate Juninho wowed the crowd with a thumping long-range strike.
It was a satisfying evening for Beckham’s side and it meant Galaxy went ahead of their opponents and all but cemented their place in the MLS Cup Play-in round.
A tight game was lit up just before half-time when former Tottenham striker Robbie Keane touched a square pass into the path of Juninho about 30 yards out and the midfielder unleashed an unstoppable right-foot shot into the top corner.
Never one to be upstaged, Beckham made the points safe with a little over ten minutes remaining. The former England captain was not put off by a man on the post and caressed the ball over his head from a 25-yard free-kick.
