Hazard: I can be match-winner

New Chelsea star Eden Hazard is confident he can be a match-winner for the Stamford Bridge club, but prefers to provide opportunities for his Blues team-mates.

The £32million Belgian winger has been in good form since he joined the Londoners from Ligue 1 side Lille in the summer, picking up one goal and four assists in his first three Premier League appearances.

That goals total could have been greater had the 21-year-old not been overly generous on one or two occasions and passed up the opportunity to shoot in favour of a pass.

Despite a preference to set up his Chelsea colleagues, Hazard was confident he would be able to step up and finish off a game if needs be.

“I love to set up my team-mates; I am not here to be a star, to show off. I am here to play for the others, but if I have to try and clinch a game then I will,” he told Champions Matchday magazine.

Hazard’s role at Chelsea is as one of two main playmakers in the side, along with Juan Mata, and he is relishing it after spending most of his time out wide for his former club.

“At Lille, coach (Rudi) Garcia made me play on the wing, which I liked because it means you are more free - you do what you want offensively even if you have to defend a lot,” he added.

However, he is relishing the chance to play the ‘number ten’ role under Roberto di Matteo, as it gives him the chance to emulate his boyhood hero.

“I always liked No10, because I loved Zidane. He was my role model, I always wanted to play like him,” added the Belgium international.
