AC Milan are planning to offer Chelsea target Pep Guardiola €6million a year to take the reins at San Siro.

The former Barcelona boss has been taking some time out of the game after stepping down from the Camp Nou’s manager post at the end of last season, but has been linked with a number of high-profile clubs.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was reportedly desperate to recruit the man who took Barcelona to 14 titles in the four years he was in charge at the club, but a report in Italian newspaper La Repubblica claims Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi is as desperate.

Milan are currently sitting 11th in Serie A after an awful start to the season and this report comes in the light of the loss to fierce rivals Inter at the weekend, with the Rossoneri owner reportedly ready to do what it takes to hire Guardiola.

The 41-year-old was reportedly being courted by the Stamford Bridge hierarchy in the summer and a report in the Daily Telegraph claimed Guardiola held a long-standing interest in managing a Premier League side.

It may be difficult for Abramovich to warrant a change of manager at Chelsea with last season’s caretaker manager, Roberto di Matteo, with the Blues currently unbeaten in the Premier League and Champions League.
