Chelsea striker target Waris Majeed is being linked with a move to Schalke.

Swedish publication GP sights speculation in both Germany and Italy when claiming that FC Hacken have accepted a bid for the player, thought to be in the region of €5 million.

However, Sports Manager Sonny Karlson refused to confirm the reports, suggesting Chelsea still have a chance of landing the Ghanaian international if they wish to pursue their interest in the January transfer window.

“I will not comment on anything until after the season. We have told Waris to stay focused on the season and that is it for now,” Karlsson is quoted as saying on the website.

Majeed has rapidly risen to prominence in Sweden, with the 21-year-old’s form in the Allsvenskan alerting a number of top clubs – including Chelsea.

Bluss boss Roberto Di Matteo sent scouts to watch the player in a recent clash against Syrianska, and Majeed didn’t let the travelling delegation from Stamford Bridge down, hitting a hat-trick in an emphatic 5-1 victory.

Following Didier Drogba’s departure from west London in the summer, Chelsea are relatively short in the striker position, with Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge the only senior players on the books in the position.

And, whilst Chelsea have been linked with more high-profile moves for players like Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy, it appears Majeed’s form has made him a legitimate target in the New Year.
