Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is reportedly interested in signing German wunderkind Julian Draxler.

According to the Daily Mirror, Mancini has reportedly sent Etihad Stadium scouts to watch the 19-year-old in action three times this month already and could move for him in January.

Draxler has been a revelation since breaking into the Schalke 04 first team last year and was the youngest ever player to appear in the Bundesliga at the time.

Manchester City have been struggling to create goalscoring chances in recent weeks, though they are still scraping victories in the Premier League and an interest in Draxler could have something to do with this.

The Germany international is a skilful wide player and has been a bog part of Schalke’s strong start to the season, though a nasty wrist injury suffered at the beginning of this month has seen him miss recent weeks, including the 2-0 away victory over Arsenal in the Champions League last week.

Meanwhile, Manchester City’s European adventure looks like being over for another season, as a loss to Ajax in Amsterdam left them with just a single point after three matches.
