Middlesbrough No.1 Jason Steele is a reported target for Liverpool as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to shake-up Anfield goalkeeping department.

Pepe Reina's position as Liverpool's first choice gloveman is reportedly under threat, while the Spaniard's back-up Brad Jones could also be staring down the barrel at Anfield.

According to The People, Rodgers wants two new goalkeepers and has identified Steele as a an ideal candidate to come to Liverpool as cover for a more experienced shot-stopper.

Steele, it is claimed, is top of the Liverpool's list for a second-choice 'keeper, although the Anfield club's interest will depend on the valuation of the former England under-21 international.

The 22-year-old was part of Stuart Pearce's Great Britain squad for the London 2012 Olympics, and played in the friendly against Brazil prior to the tournament.

Steele could move to Liverpool to play understudy to Wigan goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi, who has been linked with a switch to Anfield to replace Reina.

Reina joined Liverpool from Villarreal in 2005, and has made 382 appearances during his time with the club, keeping 162 clean sheets.
