Martin Skrtel has hinted Manchester United centre-back Nemanja Vidic could make the move to Russian outfit Anzhi Makachkala, according to reports in Russia.

The Serbian international has been out of action since September with a knee injury, but that has not stopped speculation over his future.

Vidic has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent weeks, with Anzhi said to be ready to break the bank to get their man.

The Russian club even went as far as releasing a statement in which they denied any interest in the Manchester United defender.

Now Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has added fuel to the fire by suggesting it would not surprise him to see the 31-year-old swap Old Trafford for the Dynamo Stadium.

"It would not surprise me to see Vidic leave England and join Anzhi. Nowadays in football anything is possible,” he told Russian paper Kurir.

“The Russian league from year to year progresses, we must not forget this, they have a number of great players," he added.

While Vidic’s future at Manchester United may be in the balance, Skrtel insists he is happy to stay put at Anfield for the foreseeable future.

"I recently extended my contract with Liverpool, I'll keep to it," he commented.
