Manchester United are being linked with a shock transfer raid on Tottenham Hotspur for midfielder Sandro.
The 23-year-old Brazilian international has been impressive in the absence of Scott Parker this season, with the England star’s injury problems working in Sandro’s favour at White Hart Lane.
His fine form has alerted Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, according to The Daily Star, with the Scot eager to lure the former Internacional starlet to Old Trafford in January.
The report goes on to claim that Ferguson has highlighted his midfield as ‘a key weakness’ for the Red Devils, and is eager to boost his options in the position.
Manchester United have a track record of raiding Spurs for top players, with Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov both making the Premier League switch in the past.
On both occasions, Ferguson has been forced to pay big money for the players though, and Andre Villas-Boas is unlikely to allow Sandro to leave north London on the cheap.
Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is also notorious for driving a hard bargain when it comes to players, and would have no problem negotiating with Manchester United if an offer was forthcoming.
