Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder's agent has cooled speculation suggesting the Manchester City and Manchester United target could leave the club for Anzhi Makhachkala, reports Sky Sports.

The Serie A giants' performances have improved considerably since the Netherlands international was ruled out with a thigh injury in September, prompting speculation that he could be persuaded to leave the San Siro and join fellow countryman Guus Hiddink in Russia, after losing his place in the team.

Further weight was added to rumours of the 28-year-old's alienation from Inter's first-team when it was revealed the club had banned Sneijder from communicating with his fans via Twitter.

However, his agent Soren Lerby has played down reports of a possible move to big-spending Anzhi in January, saying his client remains happy in Italy.

"Wesley doesn't want to go to Anzhi. I feel that these are just rumours and I don't know where they've come from," he told calciomercato.com. "At this point you should probably ask Anzhi and Guus Hiddink about it.

"It's the first time I've heard anything about it because Wes is very happy at Inter and has a great relationship with everyone."

Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson is a confirmed admirer of the attacking playmaker, and was heavily linked with a bid to bring him to Old Trafford during the summer. However, he opted instead to sign Shinji Kagawa - who is five years Sneijder's junior - from Borussia Dortmund.

As with most of Europe's leading players, Manchester United's local rivals Manchester City are also believed to be monitoring Sneijder's situation, despite him being under contract in Milan until 2015.
