Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta is the latest high-profile Premier League star to join Twitter.

The 30-year-old announced his arrival on the social networking site less than 24 hours after the Gunners' emphatic 5-2 north London derby victory over Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta's account has amassed over 95,000 followers in less than two days since its activation, and provides a unique opportunity for Arsenal fans to share in the Spaniard's post-match celebrations, when he posted a photo alongside Santi Cazorla and Thierry Henry in the changing room after the game.

Arsenal legend Henry was spotted in the stands with another former Gunner Sol Campbell on Saturday. And, while there might be some question marks over where the former England international's allegiances lie - due to his additional Tottenham ties - there is no doubting who the Frenchman was there to support.

Arteta's first tweet, which was sent out in both Spanish and English read: "Hi everyone! I am on Twitter! Amazing win yesterday on the big derbi! Superb Cazorla and the greatest Gunner visit…"

Summer signing Cazorla continues to draw the plaudits after another impressive man-of-the-match performance against Spurs, with a goal and an assist further adding to his growing reputation.

The diminutive Spaniard's flair and creativity has become such a critical part of the way Arsene Wenger's side play. But, that shouldn't underestimate the role of Arteta, who remains the heartbeat of Arsenal's midfield, ever since he arrived in north London as a replacement for Cesc Fabregas.
