Arsenal have reportedly identified Manchester United winger Luis Nani as a potential acquisition for the January transfer window.

Nani is widely expected to leave Manchester United either next month or in the summer and, according to the Daily Mail, the Portugal international is a transfer target for Arsenal.

The 26-year-old has fallen out of favour at Manchester United following a bust-up with Sir Alex Ferguson and, it would appear, could be offered a route out of Old Trafford by Arsenal.

Nani, who is currently injured, has not played for Manchester United since early November, when he was substituted in the far from convincing win over Braga in the Champions League.

Arsenal certainly are not lacking in their winger department with Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gervinho among their number, but the uncertain future of the former may prompt Arsene Wenger into a move for Nani.

Conversely, should Walcott decide to sign a new Arsenal contract, the England international may be afforded the opportunity to play in his favoured striking role, if Nani moves to the Emirates Stadium in January.
