Playing for Arsenal the 'ultimate' dream for tennis star Andy Murray

US Open champion Andy Murray has revealed that playing for Arsenal would be an 'ultimate' dream for him, had he chosen a career in football over tennis.

Murray has enjoyed quite a year, with the British No.1 having made the final of Wimbledon, claimed singles gold and doubles silver at the Olympics, and lifted his first Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows in September.

The 25-year-old could, however, have pursued a career in football rather than tennis when he was a youngster, but chose the court instead of the pitch - a decision that has clearly paid off.

Murray revealed this during a Twitter Q&A with fans via the profile of FIFA.com, with thousands submitting questions for their hero, which he answered on Tuesday afternoon.

Along with the revelation about his prospects as footballer during his younger days, Murray also stated his allegiances towards SPL outfit Hibernian and Arsenal.

And when asked who he would have liked to have played for, had he turned professional, Murray stated that, while featuring for Hibernian would have been 'great', playing for Arsenal would have been even better.

"It would have been great to play for @HibernianFCClub, but the ultimate would have been @Arsenal," said Murray.

Murray also compared himself to current Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, as he likes to be 'pulling the strings in midfield' but is not afraid to 'get stuck in' when he has a chance to play football.
