Ipswich have refused to comment on reports that Newcastle have accepted a £4million bid for want-away striker Shola Ameobi.
The 26-year-old former England Under-21 international made just eight appearances for the Magpies last term before going to Stoke on loan and has been the subject of intense speculation since his return to St James´ Park - linking him with moves to East Anglian rivals Ipswich and Norwich, as well as a possible move to Major League Soccer.
But a statement on the Tractor Boys´ official website, www.itfc.co.uk, read: "We are aware of reports linking Ipswich Town Football Club with Shola Ameobi but we will not be making any comment on the matter."
