Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones is heading back to Wearside on Wednesday to have the knee injury sustained while on international duty with Trinidad and Tobago assessed by the club´s medical staff.
The 23-year-old suffered suspected ligament damage in a clash with goalkeeper David James during Sunday night´s 3-0 defeat by England in Port of Spain.
Some reports have claimed the £6million signing will be sidelined for up to two months, meaning he could miss the start of the new Barclays Premier League season.
