Bolton´s passage to the UEFA Cup last 32 was confirmed on Wednesday night after the unlikely combination of results needed to eliminate them failed to materialise.
The Trotters had completed their Group F campaign two weeks ago but faced an anxious wait as the remaining teams played their final matches.
Knowing they were safely through unless Bayern Munich drew with Aris Salonika and Braga beat Red Star Belgrade by two goals, Bolton need not have worried as Bayern thrashed Aris 6-0 to win the group.
