The Carling Cup second-round shock of the night was produced by Football League newcomers Morecambe after they upset Wolves 3-1 after extra-time at Molineux.

After upsetting Preston on their competition debut earlier this month, the League Two side looked set to win inside 90 minutes when Carl Baker scored from the spot just past the hour mark - after Graham Stack had brought down Michael Twiss.

Wolves were also grateful to a penalty for levelling six minutes from time, Andrew Keogh picking himself up to score. But it was all Morecambe in extra-time, former Liverpool player Jon Newby and Garry Thompson completing the win.
