Liverpool have confirmed that Jamie Carragher broke a rib during Saturday´s win at Sunderland.
The stand-in captain was taken off with 15 minutes remaining at the Stadium of Light, and tests have confirmed the break, along with a pneumothorax, or collapsed lung.
Carragher´s injuries will not require further treatment, but the diagnosis would appear to rule him out of Tuesday´s Champions League third qualifying round second leg against Toulouse.
