A late brace from substitute David Foley helped Hartlepool come from behind to knock Coca-Cola Championship newcomers Scunthorpe out of the Carling Cup following their 2-1 result.

Foley´s second, which came with just five minutes remaining, capped a fine comeback for Danny Wilson´s men who had trailed to Martin Paterson´s first Scunthorpe goal.

To make their success all the more impressive, the visitors scored both goals when down to 10 men after substitute Ali Gibb had seen red for a reckless challenge on Kevan Hurst.
