Aston Villa manager Martin O´Neill is viewing Norwegian international Brede Hangeland as a possible replacement for Birmingham-bound central defender Liam Ridgewell.
O´Neill has kept a constant watch on 26-year-old Hangeland, who is rated in the £4 million bracket by his club FC Copenhagen.
The 6ft 5ins defender has also been linked with a move to Newcastle but the impending departure of Ridgewell - for around £2.25 million - has opened the door for O´Neill to pursue his interest in Hangeland.
