Robbie Fowler has revealed the challenge of winning promotion to the Barclays Premier League and playing regular first-team football persuaded him to join Cardiff.

The former England striker, 32, is expected to put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the ambitious Coca-Cola Championship outfit on Monday afternoon.

He told the Western Mail: "The most important thing for me is that when you look at Cardiff you see an ambitious club and a situation that is going to give me a real challenge."
