Scunthorpe striker Billy Sharp was on Wednesday having talks with Norwich over a possible £2million transfer.
The 21-year-old was the leading scorer in League One last season with 30 goals as United won the title.
Scunthorpe chairman Steve Wharton told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "We have given Billy permission to go and talk to Norwich. Norwich have had a £2million bid on the table for some time - and want to be sure that Billy wants to join them before pursuing their interest further."
