Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn is confident the club´s summer spending spree has been launched in fine style with their £3million swoop for Greg Halford.
The Black Cats have been linked in recent months with potential targets ranging from Villarreal striker Diego Forlan and seemingly most of manager Roy Keane´s former Manchester United team-mates but Quinn believes Halford will prove an astute piece of business.
He told the Sunderland Echo: "Greg Halford stood out for me as one of the best players in the Championship last season."
