Teddy Sheringham was "hugely honoured" to discover he had received an MBE for services to football in the Queen´s Birthday Honours list.
But the veteran striker, who won 51 caps for England, insists the award will not spell the end of a professional career dating back 23 years and around 950 matches for club and country.
The former Tottenham and Manchester United striker, who was released by West Ham at the end of last season, said: "It is fantastic to receive this award, I am hugely honoured and still can´t believe I get paid for doing something I love so much. I know how lucky I am and I am determined to go on playing for as long as I can."
