Meyler to miss Poland friendly

Hull midfielder David Meyler has been withdrawn from the Republic of Ireland squad for Wednesday's friendly against Poland after failing to shake off a knee problem.

The 23-year-old picked up the injury during his club's 1-0 win at Millwall on Saturday, in which he scored the decisive goal, and despite reporting for duty with the rest of his international colleagues, has now been sent home.

Manager Giovanni Trapattoni will decide on Monday afternoon whether or not to call up a replacement.
