World Cup and European Championship winner David Trezeguet has been rolling back the years with River Plate in Argentina.

The 35-year-old joined the club he supported as a boy growing up in Buenos Aires last year after they were relegated to the second division of Argentina’s domestic league.

Trezeguet scored 13 goals in 19 Primera B Nacional games last season to help propel the financially stricken side to an immediate promotion.

River Plate have started the ‘Torneo Final‘ well and are currently second in the standings on goal difference after winning their first two games.

The latest of these was the defeat of Estudiantes on Sunday night where Trezeguet scored the only goal of the game with just over half an hour gone.

The former Juventus and Monaco man won the ball in midfield to spark off a ten-pass move that ended with him peeling off at the back post and finishing it off with a sumptuous volley into the far corner.
