Arsenal are ready to relax their wage structure in order to attract the likes of Stevan Jovetic and Mario Götze.
According to a report in the Telegraph, the Emirates Stadium hierarchy have accepted that their current attitude to £100,000-a-week wages is hampering their ability to attract top stars.
However, Arsene Wenger now looks set to be able to offer prospective signings a bit more than previously with Arsenal set to feel the benefit from improved commercial deals over the next year.
The report claims Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott are the current top earners with the Gunners at just under £100,000 per week and Arsenal are ready to exceed that for the right players.
It says Wenger has had Jovetic watched closely this season with a £20million bid for the Fiorentina star being mulled over.
An interest in Götze is also being retained, though he is likely to be a more difficult target to lands as he only signed a new deal with reigning Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund last year.
Extra space on the wage bill will be freed up when players such as Sebastien Squillaci and Andrey Arshavin leave for free this summer.
A number of Arsenal's squad players will be available for transfer but the difficulty of offloading average performers on high wages has been seen in the two previous transfer windows.
