Marwood: Manchester City striker talks ongoing

Manchester City's football administration officer, Brian Marwood, has no concerns over Carlos Tevez, insisting the striker is happy at the Etihad Stadium, reports the Daily Star.

The 29-year-old is set to pledge his future to the reigning Premier League champions, by signing an extension to his current contract that expires in June 2014.

With just over a year remaining on his existing deal, Manchester City officials have opened negotiations with the Argentine's representatives, but so far have failed to reach an agreement over improved terms.

Roberto Mancini has made clear his intention to keep Tevez at the club, and although talks have reached an impasse, conversations are expected to continue in the summer.

"Everyone knows Carlos only has a year left on his contract but he has been fantastic for Manchester City, his scoring record, his tenacity, his energy," explained Marwood. "I think he is in a good place at the moment.

"Roberto Mancini has talked about extending Tevez's contract and these conversations will continue in the summer.

"We have had no offers and Carlos is happy at the club. Discussions will take place at the end of the season in terms of his future at City."

Tevez has endured a turbulent time at Manchester City after a falling out with Mancini last season prompted the South American to go AWOL for several months.

However, the striker has overcome those set-backs, rediscovering his goalscoring form this season, with a hat-trick in last weekend's 5-0 thrashing of Barnsley in the FA Cup, taking his total return to 72 goals in 136 appearances for the club in three-and-a-half years.
