Los Angeles Galaxy coach Frank Yallop has baulked at suggestions that David Beckham is using the club as a retirement home.
The former Manchester United midfielder will join the Major League Soccer side in August when he leaves Real Madrid.
Galaxy coach Yallop told PA Sport: "David is not coming over here to retire. He wants to help the game grow in this country. It is the not the Spanish League, we know that. But it is a difficult league to play in and a very good league. We are doing things correctly in America."
