Lee Sharpe is convinced the return of Wayne Rooney will provide the missing link in England´s hopes of lifting the World Cup for the second time.
The former England international watched in amazement as Manchester United striker Rooney charged about the field like a man possessed minutes after his team-mates had opened their Group B campaign with a victory over Paraguay on Saturday. He believes Rooney could figure against Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday and then provide the spark to England´s dreams of success this summer.
"He is a phenomenal player," Sharpe told PA Sport. "The way he links up the play in attack and midfielder and does things out of the ordinary makes it easy for the midfield when going forward."
