The draw for the curtain-raiser to the next Bundesliga season, the German League Cup, has thrown up an intriguing quarter-final pairing between last year´s finalists.
Werder Bremen, who won the trophy with a 2-0 triumph over Bayern Munich last term, will renew their rivalry with the Bavarians three weeks before the season officially commences.
Schalke set the ball rolling on July 21 with a clash against second division champions Karlsruhe.
