Krassimir Balakov has been sacked as coach by Grasshoppers and replaced by Carlos Bernegger on an interim basis.
Bulgarian Balakov, capped 92 times by his country, lasted 16 months in charge, but a disappointing season has cost him his job.
Grasshoppers exited the UEFA Cup at the group stage without earning a point and a failure to score in their last six Super League matches, plus a guaranteed sixth-placed finish, spelt the end of the 41-year-old´s tenure.
