Villarreal winger Robert Pires is remaining phlegmatic about his side´s hopes of claiming a UEFA Cup berth at the end of the season, despite their superb recent run.
Sunday´s 2-1 home win over Racing Santander was Villarreal´s fifth victory on the trot and they now find themselves in seventh place, just a point behind sixth-placed Atletico Madrid, who occupy the final UEFA Cup spot.
"It will be difficult to get into the UEFA Cup, but we are going to fight to obtain qualification," said Pires. "However, we must not forget that our first target is not to let slip the opportunity to take part in the Intertoto Cup."
