Anderlecht midfielder Ahmed Hassan has signed a one-year contract extension with the Jupiler League champions.

The 32-year-old Egypt international penned the deal on Monday night despite rumours that he was set for a return to his homeland to be close to his family. However, in the wake of Anderlecht´s title triumph at the weekend, Hassan has decided to stay - on the proviso that his family join him in Brussels.

Club chairman Roger Vanden Stock told rtbf radio: "We will do what we can to get his family to Belgium. It´s clear that Hassan still has big ambitions, and that´s only good news for Anderlecht."
