Gary McAllister was left to rue some charitable defending after Leeds crashed out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
McAllister, who made eight changes to his starting line-up, saw his side beaten 4-2 at Rotherham, who have already beaten Sheffield Wednesday, Wolves and Southampton in the Carling Cup this season.
The Leeds manager said: "We couldn't keep the ball out of the net."
He added: "When the ball comes into the box we have got to defend it. I thought until they scored the first goal we were in control and then we didn't defend the long throw.
"I've not seen the stats, but I think Rotherham had four attempts and scored four. We have only had two clean sheets this season.
"It's not a major concern, but it is something we have got to try and better."
