Star striker Ross McCormack has handed a huge boost to Cardiff by insisting: "I don't plan on being out too long".

The 22-year-old was forced off with a hamstring injury in the 55th minute of Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Wolves, leaving boss Dave Jones with a huge selection problem in attack after strike partner Jay Bothroyd left the pitch with a similar problem earlier in the game.

McCormack told the South Wales Echo: "At the very most, I think I'll only miss this Saturday's game against QPR. I don't plan on being out too long."

He added: "I had to come off because if I had carried on I might have made things worse and been out for longer. I don't think I've pulled it or anything serious like that."

McCormack, who is the joint top-scorer in the Championship with 11 league goals so far this season, is due to have a scan on Monday to determine the extent of the problem.
