Colchester manager Paul Lambert conceded his side were second-best after their 2-1 defeat to Hereford.

The Bulls notched up their first away win of the season thanks to goals from Steve Guinan and Lionel Ainsworth, with Jermaine Easter's second-half strike a mere consolation for the U's.

Lambert said: "It was a disappointing afternoon for us. Hereford deserved credit for what they did but you can't give teams two-goal leads. It was an uphill struggle for us after that and was really disappointing.

"We are giving too many goals away and I can't stand losing goals, especially from set-pieces."

The defeat ended a run of two consecutive wins for Lambert's side and leaves them in 16th in League One.
