Aldershot manager Gary Waddock has challenged his side to toughen up following their disappointing 3-0 defeat at Brentford in midweek.

The Shots are in their first season in League Two and continue to defy expectations despite slipping into mid-table.

Waddock told the club's official website: "I am repeating myself again but we need to score the first goal and if teams score against us it seems as though we crumble."

He added: "We need to be mentally tougher and have to dig in when we don't have the ball.

"You have to judge yourself off the ball and at the moment we are lacking in that area. We are also making bad decisions in important areas of the field and getting punished for it.

"You cannot coach hunger, desire and commitment. That has to come from within. We had it last season but I am not seeing it at the moment and we need to be tougher."
