Carlos Tevez is hopeful of staying at Manchester United beyond the current season.

The future of the Argentina forward remains uncertain, as it is unclear whether United will be prepared to pay the money necessary to keep the player, who has struggled to maintain a place in the first team, at Old Trafford.

He told Radio del Plata: "My mind is pointing me towards United and my plan is to stay here for several years more. I've already talked to the club and now we'll have to wait and see what happens in June."

He continued: "We talked but I've signed nothing yet. I want to stay. It would be difficult for me to quit one of the biggest clubs in the world."

Sir Alex Ferguson said in December talks between chief executive David Gill and Tevez's representative Kia Joorabchian were ongoing.

Tevez highlighted Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo as the two most important players in the Sir Alex Ferguson's team, saying: "Giggs is a silent leader and Cristiano deservedly won the Ballon d'Or, despite (Lionel) Messi's brilliance."
