Swansea boss Roberto Martinez insists his Championship side were unfortunate to miss out on a date with Manchester United after they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Fulham.

The Swans went down to a determined Cottagers side who sealed a 2-1 courtesy of goals from Bobby Zamora and Clint Dempsey.

"I have a bit of the same feeling we had after the first match," said a deflated Martinez. "I was extremely proud of our players, of their approach to the game and there was a good arrogance about our play."

He added: "But we're disappointed because we didn't have that bit of luck you need in the cup.

"Perhaps we scored a little bit early because what we're good at is keeping the ball, holding possession and after we scored we weren't able to do that. I just hope the Swansea fans are very proud of us."
