Arsene Wenger has slammed the hypocrisy surrounding the controversy over Eduardo’s alleged ‘dive’ hinting an anti-Arsenal agenda is at play.Eduardo has been accused of ‘diving’ to earn a penalty in last nights Champions League clash with Celtic. There has been strong condemnation from all quarters over the incident. But Wenger was unapologetic over the incident suggesting the spot-kick had no bearing on the result.“We got a penalty [against us] two years ago in the quarter-final of the Champions League [at Liverpool] that made the difference when [Ryan] Babel dived, nobody apologised to us, it was a blatant dive and nobody spoke about it” Wenger hit back.Initially it appeared Eduardo had been fouled by Celtic keeper Artur Boruc in last nights Champions League clash with Celtic. But when replayed from other angles it appeared there was minimal contact.“From outside I must say it looked a penalty but, having seen it again on television, it doesn’t look to be a penalty.” Wenger conceded.“But I must still say that we were likely always to score the first goal because Eduardo had a great chance before the penalty and we always looked in control of the game.”The controversial penalty has somewhat tarnished an efficient performance from
the Gunners with Eduardo receiving some ruthless criticism.Celtic midfielder Massimo Donati has called for Uefa to throw the book the Croatian.“If it is clear on TV then UEFA must act against Eduardo and ban him” argued Donati.Hoops manager Tony Mowbray had no complaints about the result and accepted the penalty had a minimal bearing on the outcome.“The referee has given it, but if the TV pictures show it should not have been given, then so be it.” Said Mowbray."However, you cannot deny that over the two legs, Arsenal had more quality and deserved to go through."Powered by: GiveMeFootball.com, the
