Giles Barnes is hopeful of making his West Brom debut within weeks after signing a permanent deal at the Hawthorns.

The 21-year-old is on his way back to fitness after suffering a ruptured Achilles in August and the former Derby midfielder is close to a return.

He said: "I am short of game practice and I'm not going to hide that but as soon as I get one or two reserve games behind me then I'll be ready for selection."

He added: "My Achilles feels fantastic, I don't have any pain or swelling from it at all so that`s good news.

"I think it might, and I hope it will, be weeks rather than months before I am back."
